Restorative architecture: the science of design for mental health and wellbeing

The forthcoming new book, ‘Restorative architecture: the science of design for mental health and wellbeing’ (Bloomsbury), is a companion to ‘Restorative Cities’ (2021) and will be launching in print sometime 2026-27.

The draft manuscript is now complete, identifying eleven multi-sensorial attributes of architecture (light, colour, materials, form, pattern, biophilic, smell, sound, temperature, touch) and their scientific relationship to mental health. Original concept launched Moving Boundaries Nordic 2024 and now undergoing revision and peer review. Illustrations are by the architect Spring Braccia-Beck.
